Sleep Deprivation is THE AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE.
Every evening when Susan, a divorced mom of two, drags her groggy body out of the car and into the
house, she thinks, ‘Tonight, no matter what, I’m going to bed as soon as the kids go to their rooms. And
they WILL be in their rooms by nine. I just have to get some healthy sleep. HAVE TO!”
But, when the kids are finally settled in their rooms at nine-fifty, there is still a load of laundry tossing
in the dryer that has to be folded. So she checks her email messages while she waits. There is a question
from her sister about the reservations for a vacation they are hoping to share.
And while she is answering, her eleven year old wanders in with a note from school that he “forgot”
earlier about how his class performance is slipping.
As usual, it’s after midnight when she gives her teeth a quick brush to scrub away the Oreo scum. She
almost always succumbs to the cookie lure about twenty minutes after the last kid gives up, no matter
how many times she swears she won’t (sleep deprivation often causes cravings for sweets), and her
growing waist line proves it. In disgust, she checks that the alarm is set for six and flops on her bed, half
sick from chocolate and exhaustion.
Yet, tired as she is, the second her eyes close, the note from the school pops up behind her eyelids,
every word sharp as a knife in her heart. “If only his father…right, and I'll win the lottery too... I will have
to…what I have to do is sleep."
But, she doesn't, of course.
Lack of Sleep can make you fat, sick, and stupid.
Susan and her kids are all too typical of our sleep deprived society. There is too much to do, too many
distractions, too much entertainment, and, often, it’s too easy to get stuck on a self-perpetuating treadmill
that continues until someone breaks down.
Several new studies, coming from all over the world, have been heaped on top of the old ones to prove
that sleep is an essential component of every aspect of physical and mental health. Inadequate sleep has
been linked to everything from obesity to colds. Stress, mental disorientation, poor school
performance, and violence in the work place have all been linked insufficient sleep. So have auto
accidents… and premature aging... and thyroid problems…and depression... and diabetes… and colon
cancer… and, of course, heart disease.
So, who’s surprised?
Who hasn’t experienced the effects of “running on empty”? Who hasn’t been cheated of the healing sleep
we need by daytime problems twisting and squirming through our defenseless exhausted minds. In the
darkness of the bedroom, the adult versions of children’s monsters leap out of the dark and send the
blood pressure soaring.
Is there anyone over the age of ten who hasn’t experienced that churning loop of non-stop worry that
can hijack a helpless conscious mind?
The Solutions to your problems are inside your mind.
And yet… the irony of the situation is… the solutions almost always lie deep in the SAME mind that is
wrestling endlessly with the problems, if only you can get out of your own way...through HYPNOSIS or
however you have to do it...
BECAUSE…the subconscious mind is one of the most effective problem-solving devices that ever
existed!
What’s two plus two?
How do I get from here to your house?
If your car were painted the opposite of the color it is now, what would it look like?
If you get a phone call saying your neighbor spotted someone crawling in a window of your home,
what can you do?
All you have to do is think of a question, and, INSTANTLY, your subconscious is searching the immense
library of information and experience stored in your brain to present you with an answer, a solution, or a
process to handle the situation.
You rely on it, continuously and non-stop, to do that for you, all day, every day. That’s what your
subconscious mind DOES.
History is FULL of stories about people who were troubled or perplexed about something…people who
researched and analyzed, experimented and explored without getting an answer…
…UNTIL…
… they went to sleep…and dreamed the solution…or woke in the morning with a solution in their minds…or
gave up, for the moment, and did something totally unrelated…and the solution simply popped into their
awareness.
Enough Good Sleep is the Key.
We all know that sleep is crucial to emotional and physical well-being. It’s essential to healing. It’s
essential to success in anything from repairing tissue to giving a good presentation at work.
What we FORGET is that sleep is when we process all the daytime stuff and the questions and the worries
and the problems. Sleep is the time when our undistracted subconscious minds can sort through all the
issues, information, experiences and memories, some of which we didn’t know we knew, and put
together a program that suits the person we are and the life we live.
Drugs (even prescriptions) and alcohol interfere with good sleep. Artificial light and noise interfere with
good sleep. Stimulating television and undigested food interfere with good sleep. Erratic schedules and
sedentary lives interfere with good sleep.
Light healthy meals, regular exercise, regular hours, going to bed early, complete darkness, pleasant
relationships, and relaxation, meditation, or hypnosis contribute to good sleep.
And good sleep allows your intelligent inner mind to find a solution to your problems.
“Sleep Well and Dream Solutions” is a 33 minute CD that is designed to give relief on those nights
when you are too distracted to make good sleep happen on your own.
Against a background of soothing music with subliminal sounds to slow the brainwaves, you are
guided into deep relaxation. Then you are directed to consciously put aside your problems to allow
your subconscious to work on them, and finally you are steered to ever deeper relaxation and
encouraged to drift into deep sleep and stay there until it is time to wake.
THIS CD IS DESIGNED TO GET THOSE PROBLEMS OUT OF THE CONSCiOUS MIND UNTIL THE BODY
IS RESTED. ONLY THE WISE SUBCONSCIOUS IS ALLOWED TO WORK ON THEM WHILE YOU SLEEP,
AND THAT’S A VERY EFFECTIVE WAY TO GET SOLUTIONS THAT ARE RIGHT FOR THE PERSON YOU
ARE.
