"Change
by
hypnosis"
There is a lot of research going on in Universities and Foundations all over the world as you read this.
"Experts" disagree, sometimes with more passion than dignity, about what hypnosis is and what it is
not. It seems to be very hard to distinguish a set of characteristics that happen ONLY in hypnosis and
at no other time. Nevertheless, new studies are published everyday, with precise measurements and
imagery of the living human brain, that leave no doubt that much of what happens as a result of
hypnosis can only be attributed to.... HYPNOSIS.

Sometime it's helpful, while you wait for a final scientific analysis, to realize that Hypnosis has been
around and used for a very, very long time. Even before it had a name, it was used by priests,
healers, and shamen, and was no less effective because they didn't know exactly how it worked. Most
people can't explain exactly how electricity works either, but that doesn't prevent them from turning
on the lights, the air conditioner, the microwave, or the television. Hypnosis is just as easily applied
and just as versatile.

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is something that we humans do naturally everyday! When you are lost in a daydream,
miss an exit on the highway while lost in thought, or fail to hear someone speak to you while you are
watching TV,  this is hypnosis.

Hypnosis is a deep state of relaxation coupled with intense concentration that opens
communication with your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind is keeper of your habits,
feelings, and memory. When positive suggestions for change are properly presented to the
subconscious, change takes hold more quickly and become permanent. Almost anyone can enter the
hypnotic state, and practice increases skill.

Will I Lose Control, or Reveal Secrets?

You are always in control. Although you are very relaxed during a hypnosis session, you always
have the freedom and ability to stop everything if you choose. In fact, hypnosis actually increases the
level of control you have over your life.

  •        All hypnosis is self-hypnosis.
  •        Hypnosis is a heightened state of awareness.
  •        You will not do or say anything while in hypnosis that you wouldn’t do or say when not in
              hypnosis.
  •        Hypnosis involves your full consent to be effective. You are in control.
  •        No one can be hypnotized against his/her will. You can easily and instantly emerge from
hypnosis anytime you desire and feel completely alert.

What If I Can’t Be Hypnotized?

Everyone of normal (or better) intelligence is capable of entering hypnosis, providing s/he does
not resist. It is believed that the more intelligent you are, the better subject you make.

How Effective is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is only effective if you really want to change something about yourself. While in hypnosis,
you allow your own inner mind to make changes based on the suggestions agreed upon before the
session starts.

The American Medical Association, American Dental Association and American Psychological
Association all acknowledge hypnosis as a viable and beneficial therapeutic tool, and have, since
1958.

A survey of psychotherapy literature by Alfred A. Barrios, Ph.D. revealed the following recovery rates:
Psychoanalysis: 38% recovery after 600 sessions
Behavior Therapy: 72% recovery after 22 sessions
Hypnotherapy 93% Recovery after 6 sessions

How Will I Know If I was in Hypnosis?

Put simply, you will know when you notice you are changing. You will begin to feel the power of
positive suggestions influencing your life and helping you to make the changes you desire. Your
hypnotist may or may not give you a few exercises that will cause you to notice that you are
effectively acting on suggestions, but they is simply for your entertainment.

Can I Get Stuck in Hypnosis?

Think about that for a second. Have you ever heard of that happening? You're right. The answer is
no. The worst that happens is that people who are overly tired can fall asleep because the process
often relies on deep relaxation...and they wake up naturally when they are ready. Or when their own
snoring wakes them.
